Oh hello, and welcome to the inaugural post of this four-ninety-five blog, born out of yesterday's waffle party ideas of making ridiculous amounts of food and attempting to eat it all. The idea is that we will all contribute stories and/or recipes and/or videos and/or life advice that we deem worthy, and upload them so that we can look back on this when we are begrudged scientists writing too many grants and remember our graduate school freedom/festivities. So, this attempt is going through Brendan's SD card and uploading relevant pictures thus far - a photodump, if you will - in no chronological order:
Let's start with the most recent picture, from yesterday, depicting what we called a "waffle party" consisting of Brendan, Rachel and I (and pup). Brendan's recent purchase of a $12 waffle maker from craigslist - from a middle aged azn women outside of JC penny waiting for us in a blue (sportscar?) - made this all possible, as well as the warmer-climate states for supplying strawberries and pineapples.

Below is one of our first attempts at "exotic fruit sundays" - we buy weird fruit we don't recognize, eat it on sundays. Such victims include: pommelos, ugli fruit, baby kiwis, champagne mangoes, papaya, korean pears, genetically engineered orange hybrids, etc etc
We started the whoopie pie phenomenon. Caution: these should only be made once a year - the amount of lard and sugar is actually disgusting.

star fruit buttermilk cornbread attempt 1. Actually tasted like aunt jemima's feet. Don't use whole-wheat flour when making cornbread, or you will be manically remaking it before your friends come over for dinner. self'd.
The world's best cinnamon raisin bread.
Crab rice boats. Kinda gross, don't trust all recipes you see in random blogs. |

Almond cookies are delish when you are craving almonds, especially dipped in chocolate.
Carrot cake cupcakes to celebrate that jesus has arisen. Actually lifechanging. Complete with buying a stupid cake decorator kit for the cream cheese frosting.
