Birthday Pumpkin Pie

The final product. Pie crust provided by Brendan. I've heard that making pumpkin pie from scratch isn't any better than using pumpkin from the can, but I would beg to differ. This pie was delicious.

This weekend we celebrated Rachel's dad's birthday by a camping trip to New Ulm, MN. It was actually pretty perfect out during the day, plus bonfires and one hyper puppy and one brewery tour. Our accommodations:

We got back yesterday, Aglish slept so many hours after her weekend that I thought she was dead, so we rented Jane Eyre, Modern Family, and I made an autumnal wreath:

 

Again a procrastinatory mechanism to avoid another journal club presentation on stochastic mathematical modeling, I spent all morning googling "stochastic" in preparation... it means random, but not so random that you still can't use it to assume/calculate probability?
