A success and a failure

Cooking/baking is so much like lab work, so I shouldn't be too surprised when something doesn't work. Tonight I made an amazing pasta sauce, but a terrible loaf of bread. If only I had a 50% success rate in the lab, I would have graduated by now...maybe even published a Nature paper.

I had 8 beautiful Roma tomatoes from the garden. I had grand plans to make pasta sauce and freeze it for enjoyment in the dead of winter. But, the new thing I learned today is that 8 Roma tomatoes cook down to just enough sauce for 1 serving. Thank goodness I am single and I didn't have to share it.

The failure of the night was a loaf of whole-wheat bread that resembles a brick. Maybe I will just stick to sourdough in the future.
